“We are in the free world and the players can say whatever they want, when they want,” said City’s manager.

“I don’t know if he wants to play more game time like Riyad Mahrez, who doesn’t play and doesn’t complain, like Joao Cancelo, who doesn’t play and he doesn’t complain.

Assure

“Some players complain because they want to play all the time. But I cannot assure them and I spoke to them many times about that.

“They always have to speak on the pitch. What I want from Raheem and everyone is that they’re satisfiedto be here.

“If that’s not the case, they’re free to take the best decision for the player and their family.

“If any of these players aren’t

Guardiola said: “I don’t select the players for what they’ve done in the past. It’s today, how you train today, how we’re going to play tomorrow — this is the important thing.

Grass

“So when you get the opportunity to play, show me. Show the world how wrong I was when I was not selecting you. The biggest athletes in the world they speak on the grass.”

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, meanwhile, insisted he will not go over video nasties of previous defeats against against Man City at the Etihad, admitting he could watch them “100 times” and still not work out a way to beat them.

The Clarets travel to the home of the champions on a run of four straight 5- 0 drubbings at the Etihad and still looking for their first league win of the season.

But he believes there is little to be gained for either him or his players by analysing what has gone wrong for them in the past admitting “nobody needs reminding”.

“There are games

I’ll watch back, for analysis. Or aspects of games,” said Dyche. “You look at how you’ve scored goals and stuff like that but playing against Man City, what are you going to learn from the noughts? Not much.

“You can learn something from them, but can you learn enough to beat them at their game or change the way you want to play them?

“You can watch them a hundred times, and not f ind a way to change things.

“You give the ball away, and they pounce, Barcelona used to do it incredibly well, often Liverpool have as Jurgen Klopp got them to where he wanted, but Man City are superb at it.”

BRIGHTON boss Graham Potter says his beard is staying put — regardless of results.

Albion sit sixth as they visit rock- bottom Norwich this afternoon.

It’s the kind of run that would make a superstitious manager refuse to shave until the streak was ended.

But level- headed Potter

is having none of it — even if his new look has coincided with Brighton’s renaissance.

“I don’t think I’ll be making a decision about whether I shave or not based on where we are in the table,” he said.

“I’m very happy with the beard at the moment.

“I try to be logical and to think it’s actually about 11 players against another 11 and what they do.

Quality

“Whether I shave or wear matching socks or not isn’t really going to influence the game.

“That would be doing a disservice to their effort and their quality.”

Meanwhile, Norwich boss Daniel Farke has defended his handling of Billy Gilmour after the midfielder’s stand- out displays for Scotland this week.

The on- loan Chelsea youngster has featured in just one of the Canaries’ last four league games.

Farke is in no doubt the 20-year- old is destined for the top but says it’s job to manage the player’s minutes.

The German said: “There is no pressure (to play the loan players). We are not here to develop players for other clubs, we are here to win points for this club.”
