HEAVENS SENT

O’Brien maiden to finally land victory

-

JOSEPH O’Brien is the man to follow on an exciting card at Leopardstown this afternoon. He has a host declared and three of them take my fancy as likely winners.

The first of them is GOOD HEAVENS (2.05); this maiden has had some close efforts without yet getting there.

After being second twice over a mile at The Curragh I feel his day is coming.

In the following nursery I’m going for is a chancy one at long odds.

CYNISCA (2.40) has shown little on her three starts to date but what has me wondering is why Joseph would be persevering unless she is showing talent on the gallops.

If that is the case she is off a nice mark.

Completing the O’Brien trio, ZAYNUDIN (4.20) has a similar profile to the previously tipped Good Heavens, solid form in the bag and I feel this is a weaker race than those in which he has been placed.

The feature Killavavullen sees HOMELESS SONGS (3.15) line up after what has to be considered a disappointing effort, finishing fifth in the Moyglare Stakes on Champions’ Weekend.

Dermot Weld’s filly looked fabulous when cruising home on debut showing huge potential.

That was not fulfilled when fifth next time; however one must have patience, she could still be the real deal.

Even if she does not reach the lofty heights she showed promise of this is still a drop in grade and surely within her reach.

The Trigo is also a listed race and this time I like the look of GEORGEVILLE (3.45).

This one hasn’t won since joining Ger Lyons from Weld but has been consistent and the addition of tongue tie has impressed the handicapper, who has risen him considerably, Another one for a team on fire?

Winner

This partnership are also represented by PHOENIX COWBOY (5,25) in the last, thrice a winner this term.

Will undoubtedly give you a run for your money but hard to know if the handicapper has a grip on him now.

Elsewhere on the card KERKIYA (1.30) gets the nod in a hot looking maiden. Jessica Harrington saddles MCPHERSON (4.55) in the Flat Handicap.

This charger is entered in Tattersalls sales at the end of the month. He hasn’t won for Jessie and she will be keen to right that wrong before he leaves.
