IRISH ANGLE

NAP OF THE DAY

IT’S THE second last flat meeting at Leopardstown of the year and it’s a decent card at the Dublin track.

The Listed Manguard Plus Trigo Stakes is very competitive and Willie McCreery’s UP HELLY AA (3.45) gets the nap vote for a long overdue success.

By Galileo out of Fiesolana, he was gelded prior to running at Cork last time when not beaten far in another Listed heat.

His back catalogue has some very good runs in Group class and perhaps going back to 1m2f could finally see him get his head in front as he hasn’t won in two years.

EACH-WAY THIEF

TOP weight in a Nursery is a tried and tested formula to success in two-year- old handicaps and Joseph O’Brien’s SNAPIUS (2.40) has an each-way chance in the Hazel Avenue Nursery Handicap.

The colt has been remarkably consistent in his nine runs as a juvenile, with his win coming at Limerick back in June. There seems little doubt he’s going to be involved at the finish.

ONE TO WATCH

THE opening fillies’ maiden sees an Aidan O’Brien runner in the Moyglare Stud silks.

THOUGHTS OF JUNE (1.30) is a Galileo filly owned in partnership with Coolmore and is a sister to 1m4f winner Florence Camille.

The trip should be no problem and she raced prominently on her debut at Cork and it was pleasing how she kept finding.

She won’t be too long in finding a suitable opening and this could be it.

ONE TO SWERVE

JIM BOLGER won the Group 3 Killavullan Stakes last year with Poetic Flare.

The Classic winner was sold this week to Japan for a career at stud and it ends a fantastic season for Bolger’s three-year- old. He runs Boundless Ocean (3.15) today. He holds an Irish 2,000 Guineas entry but lack of experience might count against the Teofilo colt here.
