GLOSS TO SHINE IN DERBY FINAL

-

IT’S the 2021 SIS Juvenile Derby final tonight at Shelbourne Park with 5/ 2 chance Droopys Gloss my pick to win the € 20,000 prize.

Trained by Murt Leahy, this speedy lady ran the race of her life last week after producing a rare fast start that seen her make all in a blistering 28.13.

It was a very impressive victory holding off a challenge from Crokers Spirit.

Droopys Gloss wears the white jacket in this final and if she produces another fast start, I don’t think she can be caught.

Trap one Barefoot Supremo will need a career best effort to figure and lacks that essential early pace.

Serene Ace in trap four remains the 2/1 favourite with the bookies having produced some classy runs at the Dublin track of late for trainer Mark O’Donovan.

He led in his semi- final but was collared on the line by Deadly Diego in 28.34 so he can’t afford to make any mistakes here if he is to win.

Tricky

two and Hold Fire Now in four are both good stayers over this trip.

It’s an epic final but preference is given to Allforthebest.

There is awesome prize money on offer across the card at the Ringsend venue with race 11 worth € 750 to the winner.

Lenson Johnnyboy in trap one gets my vote for trainer Pat Buckley having skipped round Curraheen Park in 28.62 last week.

He has a quick turn of paw with winning form at HQ too including 28.38 over the 525 yards trip.

A chance is taken on Auxerre in race 12 while Coom Leo could get back to winning ways in race 8 with Urban Fire in three the danger.

At Curraheen Park, it’s the semi- finals of the Irish Laurels with 12 talented greyhounds searching for a place in the € 30,000 final.

SHELBOURNE PARK

Race 3 – Trap 3 Glenshane Jet Race 5 – Trap 6 Highview Moment

Race 7 – Trap 6 Storys Direct Race 8 – Trap 2 Coom Leo Race 9 – Trap 3 Droopys Gloss NAP

Race 10 – Trap 6 Allforthebest Race 11 – Trap 1 Lenson Johnnyboy

Race 12 – Trap 6 Auxerre CURRAHEEN PARK

Race 9 – Trap 3 Ballymac Wild

Race 10 – Trap 4 Skywalker Barry

Diego races from trap five which could prove tricky so that leaves the Marie Gilbert trained Off The Pitch in trap six.

He broke really well in his semi-final but was easily overtaken but he is probably the best drawn dog in the race and at 6/1.

Droopys Gloss for the win with Off The Pitch the danger.

The RCETS 600 is a fascinating affair with € 5,000 up for grabs.

People’s favourite Beach Avenue takes his chance from trap three at 2/1 on the short side.

It would be great to see him win for team Hennessy but there is plenty of talent in this race with Glendalough at 10/3 a massive price in the red jacket for Liam Kirley. He is unbeaten in this competition with a faster clock recorded each week.

He has a huge chance but doesn’t stick to the rails all that much which reflects in his odds.

Therefore, it’s easy to see why Allforthebest is the 7/4 favourite in trap six after his gallant effort last week behind Glendalough in 32.26.

Tip Top Taylor returned to her best form in the semi- finals clocking 32.39 while No Green Dye in

Kennel

The opening heat is mouthwatering with Romeo Magico, Ballymac Fairone, Ballymac Wild, Knight Tornado, Sweep The Yard and Epic Hero. Ballymac Fairone has to be given a big chance in trap two but his kennel companion Ballymac Wild has beaten him already in this competition.

Wild was unusually slow away in his heat but ran a huge ran behind Epic Hero who is coming into form at the right time but he is badly drawn here in trap six.

Wild for the win and a big battle for the places.

Skywalker Barry can get back to winning ways in the second semifinal from trap four.

Ballymac Fairone was just too good for him in the quarter- finals but this heat looks the easier of the two so I can’t see past him.

A danger, however, is Lynchy Boy who produced a career best last week in 28.42 after a speedy start.

He races from trap two and must be given respect.
