LYON’ IN COMING WEEKS

Lyons featured in Bohemians’ last- gasp draw last Friday against Dundalk — having sat out Ireland’s Under- 21 games against Luxembourg and Montenegro with an ankle knock.

“I think it could be massive,” he said of the point earned on Friday.

“When you look around the table today, there were some results there, some big results around us.

“It’s a big game on Monday, isn’t it?

“Well, every game is a big game with only eight or nine to go. But obviously Monday is the game- in- hand as well, so that helps.

“We need to put another good performance in and hopefully get the result.

“It’s a big week ahead, but we are looking forward to Rovers now on Monday.”

Bohs boss Keith Long meanwhile, will this morning assess his options, with several

Knock

“Ciaran Kelly took a knock in training and we were just about able to patch him to put him on the bench.”

James Finnerty (groin) and Rory Feely (suspended) missed the visit of the Lilywhites, while Keith Buckley started that game on the bench.

“Ali Coote was sick for 10 days, not with Covid, so he’s only trained the last two,” added Long.

Greene said: “We have seven points to get and while people like to speak about us, we just have to look after ourselves.

“We’re not in papers talking about other teams. We look after ourselves and that’s drilled into us by the staff and management. We’ll just look forward to tonight and be as professional as we always are.

“The manager drills it into us day in, day out and this group will never change for that and if it does, you won’t be in this dressing room.”

Fierce

But with Bohemians firmly in the hunt for Europe, Greene knows their fierce rivals are in no mood to roll over in Tallaght.

The Gypsies will leapfrog Derry into fourth with a win and close within a point of third-placed Sligo Rovers.

“They’re the best games in the country, ask both sets of players” said Greene, who also played for Bohs. “They’re unbelievable.

“The atmosphere, even going over there when there were no fans. I love going into it and it’s like going into the lion’s den.

“There probably won’t be a ticket in the place and it’ll be rocking. We got a bit of stick when we went there (Dalymount, in the FAI Cup) but that’s part and parcel of football.

“I’m not going to cry about it. They beat us on the day and hopefully we can show up tonight and get three points and then it’s another four points to retain the title.”

Greene added: “There’s never a team in this league that gets handed a title and losing in Dundalk last week showed you that.

“It was probably the kick in the arse that we deserved but we bounced back like champions against a really good Sligo team and now we’ve another massive game. But we want to get it done as quickly as possible.”
