The club has done it in the past and we are looking to do it again.”

Arteta, on one of the few occasions he faced Vieira, was on the wrong end of a 7-0 thrashing by the Gunners as an Everton player in May 2005, in Vieira’s last ever appearance at Highbury.

He shuddered: “That game I remember perfectly. It was a nightmare. Absolutely a nightmare.

“How difficult it was, how good they were. They were a sensational team.”

GLENTORAN goalkeeper Aaron McCarey was sent off after lashing out at team- mate Bobby Burns in an astonishing clash during the 2-2 draw with NIFL Premiership rivals Coleraine.

McCarey lost his head after being beaten by Cathair Friel’s late equaliser and raced out to confront Burns, who had lost possession in the build- up.

The keeper hit out at Burns, knocking him to the floor before standing over the left- back and grabbing his colleague by the shirt.

Red

Glentoran skipper Patrick McClean threw the ball at McCarey before stepping in to separate the two players with the help of team- mate Rhys Marshall. The keeper was then shown a red card.

Glentoran manager Mick McDermott said: “Aaron has come into the dressing room and said he shouldn’t have done it, he has held his hand up and Bobby Burns too.

“We have rules and we protocols, procedures and disciplinary actions. If it’s proven it’s violent conduct we’ll have to consider the consequences.”
