MOBILITY SCOOTER TRAGEDY ON WAY HOME FROM MASS Man in his 80s dies after falling on street
CONDITION HAS NOT IMPROVED
ONE of the vile thugs who violently beat a prisoner “danced” on the victim’s body in an attack that has left him fighting for his life.
Robert O’Connor remained in critical condition in the Mater Hospital last night, with a bleed on his brain.
The 34-year-old, from Dublin’s Darndale, was targeted by up to four thugs who left him for dead in a cell on the C2 landing of Mountjoy prison on Friday ‘GENTLEMAN’: Liam Dyer

Last night a source said: “His condition has not improved since being brought into hospital. He’s still in intensive care but it doesn’t look good for him.”
A major probe into the incident is continuing with prison staff and inmates
AN ELDERLY man who died after a fall from a mobility scooter had just attended Mass, it has emerged.
Liam Dyer, who was in his 80s, was travelling down Cork Street, Kinsale, in Cork on Sunday when the incident happened.
The alarm was raised by a bystander and emergency services were quickly on the scene before Mr Dyer was taken to Cork University Hospital but was pronounced dead later, surrounded by his family.
It is not yet known if the pensioner suffered an illness before falling from his scooter or if something else led to his fall.
A post mortem is being carried out to establish what happened and the results are expected over the coming days.
The scene of his death was examined by gardai, who said they notified the local set to be interviewed while CCTV is also being examined.
One source revealed that information has been uncovered to suggest one of the attackers involved “danced on the man” as he lay unconscious.
Cartel
One of the suspects identified is linked to the Kinahan cartel. Another is serving a lengthy sentence for an aggravated burglary. coroner. Local Fine Gael Councillor Kevin Murphy said the community there is heartbroken for Mr Dyer and his family.
He told the The Star: “He was going down the hill after Mass, whatever happened we don’t know. There’s no information.
“He was a pure gentleman. A very popular individual. This man was a very quiet individual.

Relatives of Mr Dyer are now making funeral arrangements as they wait for his body to be returned.

Gardai suspect O’Connor was targeted on the orders of someone outside the prison.
O’Connor was jailed for six and a half years two days before the attack after admitting to the possession of a semiautomatic pistol in Finglas in October. survived by his children Sheila, Liam, Teddy and Fiona, along with his grandchildren.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the incident in Kinsale to come forward.
