SHANE PUTTS IT BEHIND HIM Lowry’s out of the rough.. GOLF ACE REUNITED WITH LOST CLUBS

- ■■Sean MURPHY

TOP golfer Shane Lowry was reunited with his priceless golf clubs in record time after promising “rewards” for anyone who found them.

Shane (35) tweeted from Chicago Airport on Tuesday to seek help to find his clubs after flying from Dublin Airport and posted a comical image to compare the ongoing lost luggage farce with bungling priest Fr Dougal from TV show Fr Ted.

As the hours passed without his gear being found, Shane tweeted: “Bags still missing at Chicago Airport. Anyone there able to help? There will be rewards.”

Then, yesterday, just before 1pm Irish time, he tweeted to reveal a photo of himself with his clubs at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he is for the Wyndham Championship.

He tweeted: “Thanks to everyone who helped me get these back before tomorrow’s opening round.”

Dublin Airport responded with its own cheeky Fr Ted caption, showing an image of Fr Dougal holding a sign that read “great to hear!” and Fr Ted’s sign said, “Now, go and win the thing!”

Efforts

Sources at Dublin Airport had told The Irish Star that efforts were made to find the clubs, while Aer Lingus apologised for the situation stating that baggage “issues are outside of our control” but pledged to “assist in urgently locating these bags”.

A similar situation unfolded two weeks ago when clubs of golfer Leona Maguire (27) got lost when she flew to Switzerland for a tournament but were quickly found at Dublin Airport when she tweeted for help.

Some air passengers, who have gone weeks without a word of communication about their lost luggage, have now claimed “it helps if you’re famous”.

Ann-Marie Toolen (51) a mumof-three in Firhouse, Co Dublin, arrived home into Dublin Airport on July 19 and her bags arrived on July 22 and 24.

When she saw Shane’s tweet about his lost clubs, she asked: “Hey, Shane. Do you think you could ask them to look for my two suitcases (missing for two weeks now) while they are at it? Thanks. Much appreciated. Ann-Marie.”

Ann-Marie, who runs My Innate Vitality Health and Wellness in Dublin, yesterday told The Irish Star: “I am absolutely thrilled for Shane Lowry.

“But I cannot get through to anyone at Dublin Airport. It is a communication black hole.”
