STARS TELL OF REG MISE LOS

-

THEY were billed as the quick fixes that can help you slim down and get a body like a celebrity.

And stars raked in cash from weight loss DVDs and fitness plans for years.

But as Natalie Cassidy revealed earlier this week, it’s not always what it seems.

The EastEnders star reckons her Then & Now weight loss DVD in 2007 was a mistake despite being paid £100,000 (€118,600) and losing 4st, dropping from a size 16 to a size six.

She said: “You are losing a lot of weight in a three or four-month period, 12 or 16 weeks, really low calories and just training every day.

“I got there, and as soon as that DVD came out, I ate for England. I put all the weight back on in eight weeks.”

Natalie (39) has previously admitted the DVD lost her the public’s trust and sent her on a spiral of yo-yo dieting, putting her health at risk.

She said: “I really was obsessed. I would spend hours thinking about what I could eat the rest of the day.

“My world revolved around calories. I would have no breakfast, a bowl of soup for lunch, then a tiny salad.”

Upset

She’s not the only star to bitterly regret doing a workout DVD.

In fact telly favourite Scarlett Moffatt admits her 2016 SuperSlim Me Plan is the “biggest regret” of her career and still upsets her today.

She was paid £100,000 and lost 3st, shrinking from a size 18 to a size eight.

But it later emerged she hadn’t shed the pounds through the seven-minute workouts but by exercising at a gruelling bootcamp in Switzerland while reportedly surviving on just 700 calories a day.

Scarlett (31) admitted that without a team representing her she had been vulnerable, and took none of her fee.

She’s now a size 18 and is happier than when she lost the weight. She said: “I can honestly say hand-on-heart that, actually, that was the most miserable time.”

Unflattering “before” pics can either be a catalyst for celebs to lose weight or be set up on purpose to create interest in the star and a jaw-dropping contrast to the slimmed-down “after” pic.

Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha reckoned it was pictures of her eating muffins in a bikini which spurred her to lose 3st 7lb for her 2010 DVD Fat To Fab.

She said she did it by going on a strict diet but admitted “crying

in the toilets” because she feared not making the target weight.

Nadia (57) said: “I did loads of exercise but oh my goodness, you have to eat very, very little.

“I was actually miserable when I was doing it. A lot of my family and friends said I completely changed my personality.”

Reality star Vicky Pattison (34) lost five dress sizes and 3st to make 7 Day Slim in 2013 which was based around 10-minute exercise routines.

She said her DVD was a good workout but also told how she devoted six months to getting in shape, doing a five-day boot-camp, training hard and restricting her calories.

Happy

But Vicky, thought to have made £160,000 (€190,000) from it, added: “It didn’t make me happy.

“I had no life, no social life and I was obsessed with being a certain size, which wasn’t realistic ‘cause I’m normal. I’ve got a huge bum, big boobs and Xena
