Jobless Poch should worry Howe and co

-

WE ALL love Jurgen Klopp but what an own goal to compare fixture congestion to climate change.

He’s not the only one who is angry about the crazy FIFA deals that brought the World Cup to Qatar.

Not only is Klopp wrong to bring the world’s biggest issue, climate change, into the conversation, there is a major difference between what FIFA has done with the World Cup and what the Premier League does with the world’s biggest league.

The reason why the Premier League is loved is because of the huge challenge and that week in, week out there can be shocks.

In France and Spain — even in Germany — there is a predictability about the results that takes away the magic.

The bottom line is that the Premier League needs to be a 20-club league and people want to see the big nights of football in the Champions League.

Priviliges

Yes, footballers need to rest but they probably train for 90 minutes three days per week, normally enjoy two days off and have the best of support teams who bring them into work, give them the best food and any privileges that money can buy.

When I hear not just millionaires but billionaires complaining about how hard they work for their money, this does not stack up for me.

Klopp must get real and certainly not bring climate change into the argument.

That’s a mile offside, Jurgen.

WHAT was all that about yesterday with Eddie Howe singing a new lucrative longterm contract with Newcastle United?

The season had not even started and when you’re managing ‘the richest’ club in the world, all that Eddie Howe waffling about how they don’t have much money is going to be laughed at.

It simply won’t dampen expectations as Eddie hopes.

So many big clubs like Newcastle , like Everton and like Aston Villa need to understand that there is a dark shadow hanging over their managers this season.

His name is Mauricio Pochettino (below).

League

He might have been ‘Mbapped’ by PSG’s superstar but he still won the league and cup in France and his team was the better side of most of the contest in their big Champions League battle with eventual winners Real Madrid.

Steven Gerrard was very fortunate to get the Villa job and Frank Lampard is on that slippery Farhad Moshiri rollercoaster.

I think, just like Howe, the fact that Pochettino is out of work, hungry and looking for his next gig is a nightmare.

Despite the positive vibes, exciting times and new contracts, I would be amazed if at least one of those three clubs don’t make a managerial change this season.
