LAGE IS READY TO DROP COADY
MAN UNITED v BRIGHTON
WOLVES captain
Conor Coady faces the bench today amid huge changes which could still see Ruben Neves and Morgan Gibbs-White sold.
Boss Bruno Lage guided Wolves to 10th in his first season in charge last term after inheriting a five-man defence.
But he is set to switch to a back four and England international Coady (below), who operated in the middle previously, is poised to drop out.
It will be a huge change after Everton target Coady played 151 of Wolves’ last 152 Premier League games.
But Lage has explained his decision and admitted every player has his price, including star midfielder Neves and Nottingham Forest target Gibbs-White, who he values at €60million.
Respect
Lage said: “Conor is still my captain and there is massive respect from me and the club to him. I cannot forget that and will not forget that.
“That is it but I need to take my decisions. I will choose the best decisions for my team.
“There is a price for every player and if the price comes and it is good for the player and the club, it is
OK, we need to accept.
“But at the moment there are players who for them to go, the other teams need to pay the money we can use to buy two new players. Like Ruben and like Morgan, for example, because they are very important.”
Despite a summer of big changes at Molineux, Lage insists his masterplan can help the club produce a team that fans will “dream” about.
This is despite GibbsWhite being chased hard by Forest who are still pushing to sign the attacking midfielder.
But with Raul Jimenez sidelined with a knee injury, Wolves will start the season without a recognised striker.
GRAHAM Potter believes he has just sold the best left-back in the world to Chelsea – but insists it’s all part of the grand design at Brighton.
Marc Cucurella has moved to Stamford Bridge in a deal worth up to €75m and that leaves Potter with a big decision on how to replace him when the Seagulls play at Manchester United tomorrow.
But the Albion boss has already brought in Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill on loan as cover and
