Chef, author and TV presenter Bourdain, ho died by suicide in 2018, was a close end of White’s and the chef admits he was vastated by his loss.

The thing that people didn’t understand out Anthony was that he was actually ry shy. He was very charismatic, and was ways the centre of attention, but he liked be on his own as well.”
So would that make him an introverted exovert? “Absolutely,” White replies.
It was terrible what happened. There was auction of his belongings recently and I ught all his knives, which I’m going to dote to a museum that’s being set up in his onour.” t’s a nice gesture to a fallen friend and a an, who rather like White himself, had a putation for not suffering fools gladly.
Yet he insists that he has mellowed and even when the topic of increasingly rude diners in the post-pandemic era is brought up, he says: “I want people to eat and have a good time, I don’t tolerate rudeness from my staff or guests, and that’s just the way it has to be.”
So, as the cost of living crisis digs ever deeper and the price of food soars, does he have any advice for home cooks?
“One-pot dishes,” he says emphatically. “I love them. They’re easy, they’re cheap, they’re delicious and they make your money go a lot further.”
It’s going to be a long, tough winter and we’ll all be eating a lot of one-pot dishes.
Just as long as it’s not coddle.
