Stars out for film festival

IRISH actor Paul Mescal rubbed shoulders with the great and the good of the silver screen as he attended the Toronto film festival.

Mescal joined the likes of Harry Styles and Crown actress Olivia Colman on a star-studded red carpet for the festival that showcased his new film, Carmen.

The Normal People star looked chic and relaxed in a double-breasted dark black suit.

He attended alongside Natalie Portman and her husband Benjamin Millepied as they represented his film Carmen for its world premiere at the festival.

Musical

Carmen, which is based on both the musical and the opera of the same name, marks French dancer and choreographer Millepeid’s directorial debut.

Meanwhile, globe-trotter Harry Styles can’t know where he is after clocking up the Air Miles leaping from the Venice to New York and then Toronto.

He’s attending the Film Festival to plug his movie My Policeman.

Flamboyant Harry did his best to upstage co-star Emma Corrin in a fetching green ensemble with matching feathers and clutch bag.

But the actress — who who portrayed Princess Diana in The Crown — trumped him in a highcut body suit with chiffon wings. She also wore killer heels.

My Policeman is about sexual repression in the 1950s and Harry said: “To me, the whole story is about wasted time, and it’s the one thing you can’t have back.”

Styles discussed how he and his co-stars built an authentic bond as on-screen friends, and navigated some soul and body-baring love scenes with both.

“In the more intense scenes, there’s a lot of trust and safety there,” he said.

Meanwhile, the other Crown star in attendance Olivia Colman (48) who played the Queen in the Netflix series, looked elegant in a trenchcoat dress.

Promoting her new film Empire Of Light, in which she plays a depressed cinema manager, Olivia praised King Charles’s “beautiful” speech after his mother’s death. “I felt proud to be British. I think he will do a good job.”
