Sex monster is back on streets after 13 years

-

GARDAI have been put on high alert following the release of notorious rapist Simon McGinley from prison.

The Star has learned that officers across the country were put on alert to the release of evil doublerapist McGinley — because he is considered so dangerous.

McGinley (48), considered to be one of the worst sexual predators this country has ever seen, walked free from the gates of Dublin’s Arbour Hill Prison, shortly before 11.20am yesterday — after serving 13 years of a 21 year sentence for the rape of 85-yearold woman in her Co Monaghan home in 2008.

And when confronted by this paper as he ran to a taxi awaiting him, the coward, who covered up his face with a mask, a hood and a cap, refused to speak.

Asked if he had any apology to either of his victims, McGinley again refused to answer.

McGinley was freed yesterday morning due to time served and standard remission of 25 per cent on his 21 year sentence, which was later reduced on appeal to 19 years in jail plus two years suspended.

The infamous rapist was previously sentenced to 12 years in 1998 after pleading guilty to raping a 13-year-old girl in August 1997 — in a well documented court case known as the “C Case”.

And speaking exclusively to The Star in reaction to McGinley’s release — abuse campaigner and survivor Fiona Doyle said she was extremely disheartened with the Irish justice system.

Tagging

“It breaks my heart that nothing has changed in regards to sentencing, tagging and taking passports from these people.

“I fear for women’s safety wherever [McGinley] lands now.

“It seems all the speaking out and stepping up by brave women is falling on deaf ears.

“I’m so disheartened,” she said.

“The fact that he is a repeat offender should make the authorities more cautious and to step up their monitoring of him, which I fear is not the case.”

Sources say gardai must be notified of McGinley’s new home — with the sex offender having to inform the authorities of wherever he ends up.

The sex beast has a week to inform gardai of his whereabouts or he faces being arrested over breaching the conditions of his release.

A nationwide official alert was issued to gardai across the country — informing them of his release, and his criminal background — so that officers can keep an eye on him.

Sources say gardai fear that McGinley is a volatile criminal, whose history shows that he is a repeat offender.

The young girl at the centre of the infamous “C Case” against him was involved in a legal battle over whether she was allowed to travel to the UK to have an abortion.

Speaking out in 2009, the victim told RTE Radio how the brutal attack left her pregnant and forced her into a succession of care homes and caught at the centre of an infamous legal battle over her right to have an abortion.

“He ruined my life and I am still coming to terms with that. My life is destroyed,” said the woman.

“I never got schooling or
