TAOISEACH Micheal Martin said he had a “warm” meeting with UK Prime Minister Liz Truss yesterday — as he also tried to cosy up to Larry the Cat.

Mr Martin was obviously feline good about his chances with the famous Downing

Street moggy as he bent down to pet him.

However, fleet-footed

Larry gave the

Taoiseach the slip as he ran from the scene.

“But I do think the opportunity is there for us to reset relationships and to be conscious of what we achieved in previous years, the obstacles that were overcome then.

“That gives us the strength to know we have the capacity to overcome current obstacles, current issues that potentially could impede the relationship, and I believe we can overcome them.”

The ban primarily impacts girls aged 12 to 18.

The UN estimates that more than a million girls have been barred from attending high school.
