SYNN’ A CLASS OF THEIR OWN
THE women’s game is booming in Ireland and Greystones United are determined to play a huge part in future success.
The Wicklow outfit, which was founded in 1969, is one of the biggest soccer clubs in the country, with a cohort of volunteer coaches developing the top local talent.
Having agreed an exciting partnership with League of Ireland club Bray Wanderers to combine their resources in the Women’s National League moving forward, the Under-13 girls at Greystones in particular have announced themselves as ones to watch.
Coach Dermot Synnott’s side stole the show in the Under-13 Metropolitan Girls League this season, finishing as champions.
Synnott said: “This is a very special bunch of players and their achievement last season was quite incredible.
“The team was basically formed right before Covid hit, so it’s their first time playing a full league season.
“We got a fantastic team sponsor in D/RES Properties, who kitted out the girls with lovely gear last season.”
