MEDICS BATTLED TO SAVE RAP STAR
MEDICS spent 45 minutes “frantically” trying to revive Coolio before he was pronounced dead.
TMZ reported that the rapper (59), known for his hit song Gangsta’s Paradise, was found unresponsive in a Los Angeles residence.
Upon locating his body, emergency medical technicians administered CPR for 45 minutes before concluding their efforts futile.
The rapper had been at a friend’s home in downtown LA on Wednesday and went to the bathroom sometime in the late afternoon, but didn’t return for “quite a while”.
His friend, who wasn’t named, said they became concerned and went to check on him.
After getting no response, they went into the bathroom and found Coolio on the floor.
They called the emergency services, with medics racing to the scene to find the rapper showing no signs of life.
EMTs responded, administering CPR for
45 minutes to no avail.
Passport
The rapper’s manager said he had travelled from his home in Las Vegas to LA in order to “get or renew his passport”, as he was due to travel to perform in Germany.
His manager claimed there was an issue with Coolio getting his passport sorted in LA, so after a telephone conversation between the two, the rapper planned to travel to San Diego to try and get it sorted there.
The manager also revealed he was preparing to join Coolio when he received the call that he had collapsed in the bathroom.
It has been reported that police did not find evidence of drugs in the bathroom, with Coolio’s manager reporting that the rapper died of a heart attack.
