WAITING FOR ALL-CLEAR TO GO HOME

- ■■Sean MURPHY

BRAVE schoolboy Noah Quish’s family is waiting to hear if he has been given the all-clear to return home after having a 12th major operation.

The little fighter (7), who was born in March 2017, was diagnosed with a range of complications.

Among them were heart condition, severe obstructive Laryngomalacia, scoliosis, malformation of the brain, severe sleep apnoea, a chromosome deletion, and meningitis.

His latest surgery on Monday was for scoliosis, to help correct his curved vertebrae.

After a difficult few days of recovery, his mother Una said yesterday was “a better day” and posted a photo of Noah’s big sister Leah gently hugging him on his hospital bed.

Doctors had initially indicated that Noah “would be home for the weekend” after his latest operation.

But Una revealed that Noah was not ready to make the journey home yesterday – but could perhaps get out today.

Yesterday she said: “He’s doing amazing today. We even got a little walk out of him. We’re hoping to get home in a few days. Maybe tomorrow.

“Recovery from the operation took a bit longer than expected because of pain. I wouldn’t have been comfortable taking him home as he had a few rough nights.

“But he is a lot better now and coping better than he was, so I just happy to see him more back to himself.”

Noah has had a dozen operations, including open heart surgery at four months old.

He has had six brain operations, two heart ops, one on his lungs and his appendix. He had surgery for a feeding tube to be inserted into his stomach, and one on his spine.
