SINGING sensation Charli XCX has enraged the entire island of Ireland following her Lip Sync Battle against Rita Ora which took place in 2018.

The singer (31) performed the iconic 1998 hit C’est La Vie by Irish girl-band B*Witched, and the clip has once again resurfaced online and gone viral for its absurdity. With a new generation of social media users seeing the awkward footage, chaos erupted on both TikTok and X, with Charli bearing the brunt of it.

The US TV show sees celebrities battle it out against one another as they perform their best ‘lip sync’ and producers decided Boom Clap hitmaker Charli should perform the 90s classic hit tune from B*Witched. And while the singer put on a good show, what was going on behind her on stage sparked fury at the time among Irish social media users – and it has done again.

The issue lies in all the backing dancers being dressed in huge Union Jack flags.

Meanwhile, judge Chrissy Teigen is dressed as the Queen of England, while another blunder sees backing dancers dressed as the Queen’s guards in uniform.

Tension

The clip caused much tension back in 2018, and this week, social media users have once again flocked to X to slam the performance.

One posted: “charli xcx lipsyncing to c’est la vie by B*witched surrounded by UNION JACKS is the eighth deadly sin.” Another joked: “American producers did Charli XCX soooo dirty here. How did nobody know to stop this atrocity.”
