MAJESTIC CHANN’ GET BACK TO WINNING WAYS

-

THE finest hour for MAJESTIC (2.20) was when he came with a wet sail to win the 2022 Cambridgeshire.

Jack Channon’s (left) six-year-old has not won since despite running several rock-solid races.

But today he can gain his reward for consistency when he returns to the scene of his biggest triumph over exactly the same 1m 1f trip.

Majestic will strip fitter from a promising seasonal return at the Craven meeting when a close fifth to Hafeet Alain.

He raced handier that day and was only found out by race fitness in the final furlong.

He is a tempting 11-1 to reverse form with the winner in the William Hill Suffolk Handicap.

It is a huge weekend for Karl Burke, with runners in both Guineas. The trainer has had 12 winners in the past fortnight and is operating at a 25 per cent strike rate. His filly BEAUTIFUL DIAMOND (2.55) could be the answer to the William Hill Palace House Stakes.

She won two from four as a juvenile and this Group Three contest looks weaker than usual.

Favours

SUMMERGHAND (1.45) has done this tipster plenty of favours down the years but has also made me look like a fool a few times.

Now 10 years old, the veteran flew home 17 days ago over the course and distance to finish on the heels of the leaders and has dropped to a dangerously low handicap mark. He cannot be deserted in the William Hill Extra Places Handicap.

The ITV cameras are also in North Yorkshire for the Vickers.Bet Thirsk Hunt Cup, where another veteran REDARNA (2.40) is fancied to win the race for the second time.

He scored in 2022 and is off a 3lb lower rating today.

Redarna ran really well on his return and has the excellent Jo Mason in the plate.

Finally, the other televised race is at Goodwood where BREEGE (2.05) can gain a deserved success in the William Hill Conqueror Fillies’ Stakes.
