Less than one month on from its Netflix premiere, Baby Reindeer is on track to become one of the platform’s most popular shows of all time - possibly on course to beat the likes of Stranger Things and Wednesday.

In its third week on the platform, Gadd’s critically acclaimed masterpiec­e accumulate­d 18.6 million views (from 29 April to 5 May).

This takes its total to 56.5 million views in just 26 days, with Baby Reindeer now needing just 27 million more views in the next 65 days of its 91-day premiere window to enter the top 10 most-watched Netflix shows of all time.

The 10th most- show currently Witcher, season with 83 million views, with the second season of Bridgerton in ninth position with 93.8 million views.

Penned by and starring Gadd himself, Baby Reindeer has been dominating cultural conversati­ons for weeks thanks to its portrayal of how a simple act of kindness spirals into a relentless stalking and obsession nightmare.

Gadd appears as Donny in the trending mini-series still hitting the headlines one watched is The one, month on from its premiere. Baby Reindeer follows Dunn’s harrowing experience after he, an aspiring comedian and bartender, offers a free cuppa to a woman at his workplace. This minor act of generosity sets off an obsessive bombardmen­t from Jessica Gunning’s character Martha which includes 40,000 emails, 740 tweets, 350 hours o f voice messages, hand-written letters numbering 100 pages, and 45 Facebook messages spanning five years.

The foundation of Baby Reindeer is Gadd’s personal experience with stalking and sexual abuse, adding another layer of dread for viewers.

Just days after the show landed on Netflix last month, Gadd took to his Instagram page to reassure fans and thank them for watching his deeply personal series.

Gadd posted a snapshot of his Netflix account indicating Baby Reindeer as the UK’s most streamed show that day, thanking everyone for their support whilst confirming: “Number 1. Thanks to everyone for tuning in and making this possible and for all your lovely comments too. I am okay, for those asking. I promise.”

The chilling true events inspiring the Baby Reindeer storyline started a decade ago when Gadd began making his mark on the UK comedy scene with hit shows like Breaking Gadd, Waiting for Gaddot and Monkey See Monkey Do.

However, unknown to his fans, Richard was privately wrestling with a deeply disturbing situation - an obsessive stalker.

The innocent offer of a cup of tea set off an unyielding wave of harassment and intimidati­on from the unnamed woman, transformi­ng his life into a nightmare.

“At its peak, it was almost unbearable,” the funnyman said.
