ALL WHITE ON THE NIGHT FOR LUKE
LUKE HUMPHRIES will bask in the adulation of a ‘home’ crowd tonight dreaming of a Leeds Premier League double in darts and football.
The PDC world champion faces Rob Cross at the First Direct Arena with a contingent from his beloved Leeds
United in the audience in the penultimate round of the BetMGM Premier League darts league.
Humphries, who has already qualified for the play-offs at London’s O2 this month, cannot wait to be swept along by his Yorkshire flock, although Daniel Farke’s promotion-chasers have hit bumps in the road on their promotion crusade across town.
Cool Hand Luke said: “I’ve got a new shirt just for Thursday night and it’s Leeds-inspired.
“The pressure is off now I’ve qualified for the O2 play-offs.
“My mum, dad, brother and girlfriend will all be there and winning in a city so close to my heart would be incredible.
“I’ve got a lot of people coming to support me – most of the backroom staff at Leeds United and a few of the players are on my guest list.
“If we can both get through our play-offs – me winning at the O2 and Leeds winning promotion to the Premier League – it would be the perfect double.”
Drawn
Farke’s men have lost four and drawn two of their last eight games to land in the
Championship play-offs.
But there is no chance that Humphries has picked Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart as his new walk-on music – because rival fans love goading Leeds with the alternative lyric ‘Leeds are falling apart again.’
