Whitmore: London is my home

-

PRESENTER Laura Whitmore has ruled out moving home to Ireland – saying London is home to her.

And the telly star — who attended last night’s BAFTA TV awards — also said she wouldn’t like to host the Late Late Show.

Asked if becoming its first female host could tempt her to move back, she said: “No, I don’t think so. I was home recently and did [the show] with Paddy. He is brilliant. “I don’t think I’d come home and live in Ireland but I’d definitely love to work in Ireland again.

“London has been very kind to me. It’s been 15 years. I’ve navigated a career that has longevity... I call it my home,” she added.

Cosy

“London is a big metropolis but also, its home. It’s cosy. I’ve got friends. And I’ve got real-life stuff — I go and do the supermarket shop. I do the nursery run... Then I can also go to the studio and film.”

“There is a lot of Irish around London,” she told the Sunday Independent.

She said Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan is “a really good friend of mine who is doing wonderful things. There are so many brilliant Irish people here — Sharon Horgan, Eve Hewson, Aisling Bea. Sometimes I gravitate towards Irish people.”

Laura also opened up about being more savvy to online trolling.

“But it’s still bloody hard, no matter what you do, you will do something wrong. So you just have to follow your heart,” she said.

“I was really uncomfortable in my skin when I was younger. Definitely, since having a child and seeing what my body could do, I am more respectful to my body than I used to be. I probably didn’t respect my body enough. Or would say horrible things in my head and think horrible things about how I looked.”
