SUN WILL COME STORMING BACK
Not thunder the weather for long
THE good weather went out with a bang yesterday with isolated thunderstorms in some parts marking the return of what normally passes for an Irish summer.
But the public shouldn’t put away their sunblock just yet as forecasters are predicting that there could be more sunshine on the way by next weekend.
Met Eireann had issued a status yellow thunderstorm warning for eight counties yesterday which marked the end of what had been a week of fine weather.
Counties Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Meath and Wicklow were affected but there was also a good deal of sunshine between the showers.
Downpours
There were also reports of heavy downpours in some southern counties which made driving conditions hazardous.
But looking further ahead Met Eireann has revealed that by the end of the week high pressure could again dominate bringing more settled weather with plenty of sunshine.
Unlike last week temperatures yesterday struggled to reach the high teens and that will be the case for most of the coming week.
Today will be rather cloudy to begin with isolated showers and those will become more widespread for a time during the afternoon with temperatures not getting above 19C.
Tomorrow there will be a good deal of cloud at first but better sunny spells will break through during the day.
Outbreaks of rain will likely affect much of Munster and south Leinster with scattered showers developing further north. There is also a chance of some isolated thunderstorms but temperature will reach highs of 19C generally and will be warmest over the northern half of the country.
