Hair sa­lon holds py­ja­mas day for Mary­mount

Su­per cool women of north Cork ar­rived in their pj’s and slip­pers for a lit­tle bit of pam­per­ing at L&A Hair and Beauty in Castle­town­roche.

“Sure, who wouldn’t like to get pam­pered in the com­fort of their py­ja­mas,” said Áine Browne, co-owner of the sa­lon.

It was a fundrais­ing event in aid of Mary­mount Hospice.

The sa­lon’s ‘Pam­per In Your Py­ja­mas’ of­fer saw women ar­rive for their hair and beauty treat­ments in their best py­ja­mas and slip­pers.

It gained mo­men­tum with many lo­cal busi­nesses and in­di­vid­u­als do­nat­ing spot prizes which were raf­fled on the day for the well-de­served char­ity.

L&A also do­nated 20% of the day’s tak­ings for treat­ments to to Mary­mount.

Áine said: “We are so lucky to have such a great clien­tele and even more for­tu­nate to have a strong team of beau­ti­cians and hair stylists.

“We wanted to give some­thing back to Mary­mount and my mam (Lorena Lynch Barry) and I de­cided to hold this fundraiser.”

Áine said the event had cre­ated such a buzz in the sa­lon.

“Ev­ery­one, in­clud­ing the staff, made a huge ef­fort to come along in their py­ja­mas.

“Some peo­ple who had no treat­ments booked popped in with cakes or even to just do­nate money to Mary­mount.”

In to­tal, the sa­lon raised more than €1,000 for Mary­mount and the amount is in­creas­ing with do­na­tions still com­ing in.

It has also led to­huge ac­tiv­ity on the L&A Hair and Beauty Face­book page with pho­tos from the event and raf­fle win­ners an­nounced.

“I also had the priv­i­lege on the day to judge the ‘best slip­pers com­pe­ti­tion’ which was a first for me,” Áine said. “My mother Lorena and I, would like to thank ev­ery­one who made the event such a suc­cess.

“We re­ally ap­pre­ci­ate ev­ery ges­ture made by cus­tomers, staff, other busi­nesses and the public who popped in.

‘Pam­per in your Py­ja­mas’ at L&A Hair and Beauty in Castle­town­roche helped to raise more than €1,000 for Mary­mount Hospice.
