Hair salon holds pyjamas day for Marymount
Super cool women of north Cork arrived in their pj’s and slippers for a little bit of pampering at L&A Hair and Beauty in Castletownroche.
“Sure, who wouldn’t like to get pampered in the comfort of their pyjamas,” said Áine Browne, co-owner of the salon.
It was a fundraising event in aid of Marymount Hospice.
The salon’s ‘Pamper In Your Pyjamas’ offer saw women arrive for their hair and beauty treatments in their best pyjamas and slippers.
It gained momentum with many local businesses and individuals donating spot prizes which were raffled on the day for the well-deserved charity.
L&A also donated 20% of the day’s takings for treatments to to Marymount.
Áine said: “We are so lucky to have such a great clientele and even more fortunate to have a strong team of beauticians and hair stylists.
“We wanted to give something back to Marymount and my mam (Lorena Lynch Barry) and I decided to hold this fundraiser.”
Áine said the event had created such a buzz in the salon.
“Everyone, including the staff, made a huge effort to come along in their pyjamas.
“Some people who had no treatments booked popped in with cakes or even to just donate money to Marymount.”
In total, the salon raised more than €1,000 for Marymount and the amount is increasing with donations still coming in.
It has also led tohuge activity on the L&A Hair and Beauty Facebook page with photos from the event and raffle winners announced.
“I also had the privilege on the day to judge the ‘best slippers competition’ which was a first for me,” Áine said. “My mother Lorena and I, would like to thank everyone who made the event such a success.
“We really appreciate every gesture made by customers, staff, other businesses and the public who popped in.
