Love was in the air for Eamon and Mario on their special day

THEIR paths first crossed in London when Mario Failla and Eamon Murphy embarked on their first day of training as cabin crew with British Airways. That was April 15, 1996, and exactly two decades later, on April 15, 2016, the couple announced their engagement in Kinsale, celebrating in the Super Club restaurant.

London-based Mario and Eamon returned to Kinsale to tie the knot in a humanist ceremony in the gunpowder room at Charles Fort, led by Norma McElligott.

Mario, an Italian who was born in Argentina, and Eamon, an Irishman who was born in England, welcomed guests from across the world including Ireland, Australia, Argentina, and Sicily.

Their wedding day revelry started with a champagne and canapé reception in Actons Hotel where a harpist performed and guests were then ferried by coaches to Charles Fort.

A procession of the wedding party was led by local musician Pat Crowley playing ‘Adios Nonino’ on the accordion representing Mario’s Argentinian background.

Both cut a dapper dash for the nuptials, with Eamon sporting Dolce & Gabbana, from Bond St, London, while Mario wore made-tomeasure Ermenegildo Zegna, Knightsbridge, London.

Mario’s best man was Salvo Moschetto while Eamon’s best woman was Holly Solorz.

At their reception, in Actons Hotel, entertainment included tango dancers from Argentina and a troupe of young Irish dancers from a local dance school in Cork followed by a disco till the early hours.

Celebrations continued the following day at an Easter Sunday buffet lunch with an Irish band playing for the 150 guests. Magician Gerard Kearney entertained all ages and dazzled Mario and Eamon with a personalised trick performed especially for them.

Capturing the big day on camera were photographer and videographer Bartek Wachta and Karol Kachmarsky.

The newlyweds honeymooned in Los Angeles.
