Council bids to tackle litter louts

Irish Examiner - County - - News -

Litter louts will certainly not be smiling if they find themselves caught on camera.

Cork County Council has issued a warning to offenders who persist in dumping rubbish in a semi-rural area on the north-east outskirts of the city. Fly-tipping has become a major problem in parts of Rathcooney, Glanmire, in recent years and it’s of major concern to residents. Councillor Padraig O’Sullivan highlighted the problem at a recent meeting of the Cobh/Glanmire municipal district council which will request the county council’s environment directorate to install covert cameras in the area to catch those responsible. Mr O’Sullivan claimed “persistent littering is occurring every day in this part of the municipal district”.
