Family helps Amy and Stephen’s big day to bloom
FRIENDSHIP blossomed into romance for Amy Hannigan and Stephen Buckley. The couple first met 17 years ago in Ballyphehane, where they are still based. “We used to hang around with the same friends and then we would go to a disco up in Harlequins and it just went from there,” said Amy. “We got engaged three years ago, on July 16, 2015, at home.”
They were wed in August in the Church of the Assumption, Ballyphehane, by Fr Michael Murphy and held their reception in The Kingsley Hotel.
The bride’s mother and father, Pauline and Micheal Hannigan, and the groom’s parents, Ber and Pat Buckley, helped them host the celebrations to perfection, as did the bride’s grandmother Rose Hannigan.
Amy’s cousin Laura Hannigan was maid of honour with another of her cousins, Tara Gahan, joining forces with a friend, Annmarie O’Sullivan, and Amy’s sister-in-law Ciara Buckley to take on bridesmaid duties.
Stephen’s friends Jonathan Murphy (best man), Niall Harrington and Wayne Hogan (groomsmen) together with Amy’s brother Gary Hannigan (groomsman) were by his side for the occasion.
“Our big day was absolutely amazing — one of the best days of our lives — and we had beautiful weather to top it off,” said Amy. “My nana Rose is so special to us both as she is the only grandparent between us and we were delighted to have her at our wedding; it made it extra special.”
John Sexton captured the big day on camera and Amy looked picture perfect in a Mark Lesley design she bought in The Moderne Bridal, Cork.
The bridal hairstyling was by Nichola Kiely of Nic’s Pin-ups, with makeup by Rebecca O’Donovan from Jeanette Cronin Makeup.
The groom and his party cut a dash in suits by Morley’s, Cork.
Story Begins took care of the videography with Cork Weddings & Events providing the floral arrangements.
Amy and Stephen honeymooned in Thailand for three weeks. “We left three days after our wedding, August 7, which was also my birthday,” said Amy. “We took in Bangkok, Koh Samui, Phuket and Phi Phi Island.”
