Fol­low­ing the pre­sen­ta­tion to the Ir­ish cham­pion and Eu­ro­pean No 3, Mc­Carthy spoke pas­sion­ately about the sport.

One of the guests at the Con­ven­tion was Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin.

Speak­ing at the Boxing Break­fast on Con­ven­tion week­end, Martin ex­pressed the wish that he would love to re­turn some evening to the Glen BC.

This re­quest was im­me­di­ately fa­cil­i­tated and on Mon­day, No­vem­ber 26, next, Martin will re­turn to the unit where his fa­ther, Paddy ‘The Champ’ learned his trade and meet some of the greats from the club’s past.
