Char­ity urges peo­ple to adopt a don­key

A char­ity which looks af­ter s o m e o f o u r fo u r - l e g g e d friends is urg­ing peo­ple this Christ­mas to ‘Adopt a Don­key’.

The Lis­car­roll-based Don­key Sanc­tu­ary in north Cork is hope­ful of sup­port from an­i­mal lovers.

For just €25 for one year, they can adopt a don­key for them­selves or as a gift for a friend, in the knowl­edge the an­nual fee guar­an­tees a life of lov­ing care for don­keys at the sanc­tu­ary.

By choos­ing one of the won­der­ful don­keys cur­rently on the adop­tion list, peo­ple will be help an­i­mal sanc­tu­ary in its work. Chal­lenges in­volve res­cu­ing, re­ha­bil­i­tat­ing and re­hom­ing count­less don­keys through­out the coun­try.

Those sign­ing up also re­ceive an adop­tion pack con­tain­ing an adop­tion cer­tifi­cate, a pen­cil sketch print, the story of the cho­sen don­key and a twice-yearly re­port with de­tails of the an­i­mal’s progress.

Adop­tive fam­i­lies are en­cour­aged to visit the an­i­mals at Knockard­bane Farm as of­ten as they. Pub­lic ad­mis­sion is free.
