Budding young filmmakers are being called to enter a competition to find the county’ s best emerging cinematographic talent. Submissions for the First Cut Youth Film Festival 2019 are now being accepted.

A spokeswoman said they are looking for talented people between the ages of 12 and 24 to take part: “If you have a short film you want to screen, then First Cut wants to hear from you.”

Whether you are an individual filmmaker or part of a school, college, or youth group, it’s free to submit a film — whether it’s fiction, documentary, animation or music video.

The deadline for entries is Monday, January 14. The festival runs March 6-9.

Based at the Mall Arts Centre in Youghal, this annual festival is dedicated to showcasing new films by young filmmakers.

Now in its tenth year, it offers screenings, workshops and talks by film industry professionals in a friendly atmosphere.
