Experienced UK breeder appointed to judge 2018 National Dairy Show
Edward Griffiths will judge the 2018 National Dairy Show in Millstreet on Saturday, October 20.
The 51-year-old and his family milk 180 pedigree Holsteins plus a few Jerseys and Ayrshires which all share the Coachgate prefix, in South Yorkshire.
The 270-acre farm is 750 feet above sea level, and is predominantly a grass and wheat farm.
Edward has judged many major shows in the UK and Europe, including the National Holstein shows in the UK, Ireland, Sweden and Slovenia; the All Dairy Breeds Championships at the Royal Welsh Show; AllIreland Baileys Championship; Royal Ulster; and Agriscot dairy show in Edinburgh. Most recently, he judged the New Zealand Dairy Event. The National Dairy Show is the largest and longest running indoor dairy show in Ireland, now in its 36th year.
It is run by members of the C o r k H o l s t e i n F r i e s i a n Association in conjunction with the Irish Holstein Friesian Association.
It showcases the best of Ireland’s Holstein Friesian and Jersey cattle, alongside hundreds of trade stands exhibiting farm requirements, and a varied programme designed to offer something for all the farming family.
