Ex­pe­ri­enced UK breeder ap­pointed to judge 2018 Na­tional Dairy Show

Ed­ward Grif­fiths will judge the 2018 Na­tional Dairy Show in Mill­street on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 20.

The 51-year-old and his fam­ily milk 180 pedi­gree Hol­steins plus a few Jer­seys and Ayr­shires which all share the Coach­gate pre­fix, in South York­shire.

The 270-acre farm is 750 feet above sea level, and is pre­dom­i­nantly a grass and wheat farm.

Ed­ward has judged many ma­jor shows in the UK and Europe, in­clud­ing the Na­tional Hol­stein shows in the UK, Ire­land, Swe­den and Slove­nia; the All Dairy Breeds Cham­pi­onships at the Royal Welsh Show; Al­lIre­land Bai­leys Cham­pi­onship; Royal Ul­ster; and Agriscot dairy show in Edinburgh. Most re­cently, he judged the New Zealand Dairy Event. The Na­tional Dairy Show is the largest and long­est run­ning in­door dairy show in Ire­land, now in its 36th year.

It is run by mem­bers of the C o r k H o l s t e i n F r i e s i a n As­so­ci­a­tion in con­junc­tion with the Irish Hol­stein Friesian As­so­ci­a­tion.

It show­cases the best of Ire­land’s Hol­stein Friesian and Jersey cat­tle, along­side hun­dreds of trade stands ex­hibit­ing farm re­quire­ments, and a var­ied pro­gramme de­signed to of­fer some­thing for all the farm­ing fam­ily.
