Agriscot win for all-natural teat dip

Irish Examiner - Farming - - TECHNOLOGY FOCUS - Stephen Cadogan

Diversey Deosan’s bid to develop a consumer-friendly natural teat dip without compromising milk quality has resulted in the company winning the main innovation award at the recent Agriscot show in Edinburgh. Their Triathlon product is completely natural, made from renewable resources, and is biodegradable without dangerous residues. On-farm trials have demonstrated instant disinfection, a 99.999% bacteria kill rate within 30 seconds of contact.

It is also proven to improve teat moisture retention, thus protecting skin condition. It contains a 100% natural emollient source, without moisture reducing sulphate compounds. Triathlon also helps to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells. The natural formulation means no milk safety risk. With Infant Milk Formula such an important Irish and EU dairy product, there is a 150 microgram per kilogram iodine concentration in raw milk for processing into IMF. So the award-winning Triathlon new product is well placed to meet stringent regulations and comply with tightening milk contract specifications. In the UK, Triathlon is priced at about £2.50 per litre. The innovation award included £1,000 of free advertising in The Scottish Farmer publication, one of the award sponsors.

The main innovation award at Agriscot went to Diversey Uk for Deosan Triathlon: from left, Brian Sangster, Alison Cox, David Jackson, Patsy Hunter, and David Hamilton.
