New lightweight self loading straw spreader
Spread-a-bale will launch a self-loading spreader for onetonne loaders next month at the LAMMA Lincolnshire Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Association show in England.
The firm has added the Midi Lite to its portfolio, the first ever side-mounted self-loading straw spreading machine for rectangular bales weighing up to 500kg, aimed at livestock farmers with one-tonne loaders.
Extending Spread-a-bale’s M series, the 500kg Midi Lite requires only a one-tonne lift capacity, and is suitable for most tractor front loaders, as well as skidsteer loaders. The new spreader features one horizontal rotor for side loading and side spreading. The spreading distance is up to 14 metres to the left. The machine is powered hydraulically and requires a maximum 55 litres per minute oil flow.
The chain drive to the rotor motor can be geared differently to compensate for lower flow rates.
The head can be elevated to reduce the total width, if door access is limited to less than three metres, enabling the machine to enter the vast majority of livestock buildings. Spread-a-bale’s Michael Hughes said: “The Midi Lite completes Spread-a-bale’s portfolio, enabling up to 75% reduction in spreading time and labour for livestock farmers with smaller lift capacity loaders, and equally important, significant straw of approximately 40% with mini-heston bales.” It’s the first ever indoor LAMMA, and it will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, January 8-9 at the NEC in Birsavings, mingham. It will continue to be a free-to-attend and free-topark event.
The new Spread-a-bale 500kg Midi Lite will be officially launched at Lamma in England next month, with a standard list price of £11,500.
