Sprayer company launches leasing solution response to increasingly stringent EU standards
There was a bronze medal in the SIMA Innovation Awards for the Berthoud Rent service, a new sprayer longterm leasing solution which includes monitoring, checking, and maintaining the sprayer on the user’s premises, so that the buyer always has a well-maintained, welladjusted machine working to the best of its efficiency. The SIMA Innovation Awards go for the most innovative equipment, products, techniques and services which will be on show at the SIMA Paris International Agribusiness show (February 24-28).
In Ireland, testing and certification of boom sprayers greater than 3m has been in place since 2016.
Only certified equipment can be used to apply professional plant protection products (PPPS).
There are 30,000 to 40,000 tractor-mounted or trailed sprayers in Ireland.
The test involves a thorough examination but certifies a sprayer for five years.
The certification is part of increasingly stringent standards across the EU in terms of machine performance, which have raised the prices of machinery, and made their maintenance more sophisticated. That is why Berthoud, one of the pioneers of crop spraying in France, has combined a rental contract with a comprehensive service to monitor, check up and main- tain the machine, on the farm.
The French company’s “allinclusive” solution from delivery to return of the machine, with regular servicing, can include the cost of wear parts (including nozzles) in the contract, and two annual visits (conducted by the dealer and a Berthoud technician), to check up on the condition of the machine and carry out its servicing and maintenance, in order to guarantee the best operation of the sprayer, at no extra cost.
It is also possible to adjust and modulate rental payments according to the activity of the machine.
The service therefore offers French farmers and contractors flexibility in terms of the use and financing of sprayers.
Berthoud in France has won an award for a long-term leasing solution which includes keeping a new sprayer well-maintained for working to the best of its efficiency.
