■ 42% of mums say what they most adore about mother­hood is depth of love they feel for their chil­dren.

■ 21% say it’s spend­ing precious time to­gether, while 16% most en­joy watch­ing their chil­dren learn new things.

■ More than 20% of mums spend over 30 hours a week fam­ily time to­gether.

■ Part­ners (90%), par­ents (71%) and sib­lings (48%) are top of mums’ sup­port net­work, but on­line ex­perts (17%), so­cial me­dia mums/blog­gers (16%) and on­line fo­rums/chats (16%) form sig­nif­i­cant parts of mums’ ‘vil­lage’.

■ Mums are equally split be­tween those who feel mother­hood is what they ex­pected (52%) and those who be­lieve it isn’t (48%). Those who feel it isn’t are one-fifth less happy (20%) than be­fore they gave birth. A third felt they wanted to dis­ap­pear at some point since be­com­ing a mum.

■ 27% of mums say bal­anc­ing child­care and ca­reer is their big­gest chal­lenge.

■ 29% agree mother­hood is more emo­tion­ally chal­leng­ing that they ex­pected.

■ 38% say time by them­selves or time with part­ner is what they miss most. 16% of mums miss spon­tane­ity. 32% say get­ting out in the fresh air and hav­ing an un­in­ter­rupted bath are their pre­ferred stress re­liev­ers.

■ 75% of cou­ples say they have less sex since be­com­ing par­ents.

■ A typ­i­cal Sun­day for a fam­ily is spent at a lo­cal amenity (59%) or with grand­par­ents and fam­ily (52%).

Orig­i­nally named eu­mom, the ev­ery­mum par­ent­ing com­mu­nity was set up in 2000 and num­bers 165,000 moth­ers.
