Pre­sented by An­gela Scan­lon from the Anatomy Mu­seum in Dublin (left), this se­ries, which runs over three con­sec­u­tive nights, will look at the ex­tra­or­di­nary devel­op­ment of hu­mans from birth to death, from in­fancy to old age.

Bit­ter­sweet, RTÉ One, Wed­nes­day, No­vem­ber 14, 11.10pm

In this 30-minute doc­u­men­tary we hear sto­ries of young peo­ple who are liv­ing with di­a­betes and their daily strug­gle to man­age it. It cap­tures the health sys­tem’s fight to treat the ris­ing num­ber of di­a­betic pa­tients, and warns against this trou­bling epi­demic. We also dis­cover ground­break­ing re­search and devel­op­ment in phar­ma­col­ogy and biomed­i­cal sci­ence, in­clud­ing the im­por­tant work of Cúram’s Prof David Bray­den and his team at UCD’s School of Ve­teri­nary Medicine, where they are de­vel­op­ing new ways of de­liv­er­ing in­sulin to the body.

Think­ing Out­side The Box, Schrodinger In Ire­land, RTÉ One, Fri­day, No­vem­ber 16, 7.30pm

Prof Luke O’Neill looks at the life and times of Erwin Schrodinger — the No­bel-prize win­ning physi­cist who came to live in Ire­land in the 1940s, and whose Dublin lec­tures in­spired a rev­o­lu­tion in sci­en­tific thought.
