Your child’s weight - how to help

Restrictive eating doesn’t work for children — the jury’s out if it even works for adults.

Grandparents/caregivers need to respect the parent’s wishes when it comes to feeding children.

Ellyn Satter’s Division of Responsibility says the what, when, where of eating is up to the parent/caregiver but how much to eat, if at all, is up to the child.

If your child is overweight consult your GP to rule out medical issues before making an appointment to see a registered dietitian.
