SANTA PAWS: Visit Santa and his ‘paw­some’ rein-dogs at the Ir­ish Guide Dogs for the Blind’s head­quar­ters on Model Farm Road. They will open Santa’s Grotto from 12pm to 4pm on De­cem­ber 8, 9, 15 and 16 and there’s also an autism-friendly grotto this week­end. DREAM SOFTLY: IKEA runs a soft toy draw­ing com­pe­ti­tion an­nu­ally, where chil­dren aged 12 and un­der are in­vited to draw the soft toy of their dreams. Five win­ners from the 87,000 en­tries have been se­lected and their colour­ful char­ac­ters have been turned into toys. The lim­ited edi­tion SAGOSKATT soft toy col­lec­tion, in­clud­ing Pink Uni­corn, €5, is now be­ing sold in IKEA stores world­wide, in­clud­ing IKEA Dublin with pro­ceeds go­ing to Barnar­dos.

CHAR­ITY RUN: More than 2,000 peo­ple are ex­pected to take on a 5K or 10K chal­lenge for the 13th an­nual Aware Christ­mas Run in the Phoenix Park on Sat­ur­day, De­cem­ber 8, to raise funds for the char­ity’s sup­port, ed­u­ca­tion and in­for­ma­tion ser­vices, On­line reg­is­tra­tion is open at aware.ie/events and costs €25 per per­son. Get into the fes­tive spirit on the day in Christ­mas jumpers, elf cos­tumes, etc — the whole fam­ily (in­clud­ing pets) are wel­come.
