Food for thought

Irish Examiner - Feelgood - - Food -

MORE than a third of Irish people (35%) rely on supplements to make up their daily nutritional requirements rather than eating foods that are naturally rich in vitamins. Research by Monaghan Mushrooms also shows that a quarter of us don’t know how many vitamins, and in particular vitamin D, we should be taking daily. Dietitian Sarah Keogh said: “So many natural fruits and vegetables, including mushrooms, are excellent sources of essential vitamins and minerals.” Monaghan Mushrooms has just launched Immune closed-cup mushrooms, on sale in Dunnes Stores, which are high in immune-system-boosting vitamin D and selenium.
