Tots to teens
FIRST FOODS: Avocados, quinoa and hummus are among the foods babies enjoy most during weaning but more traditional dishes remain firm favourites too, with 75% enjoying beef stew and sausages and mash on the first taste. The survey, commissioned to mark the new WaterWipes with Soapberry, €3.39, also found that most parents (three in every four) feel confused when it comes to what they should be feeding their baby in the early months.
DRINK UP: Klean Kanteen water bottles are made with fully recyclable, 18/8, food-grade stainless steel. These bottles have a wider than usual 4.4cm opening for easier cleaning and give room to drop down ice cubes and fruit. They are available in various sizes from 12oz up to 64oz, styles and colours, including insulated bottles for hot drinks and have a lifetime warranty. Prices start at €17.95; www.earthmother.ie
FOR MUM: Stay cosy in this woollen blend knit from Irish maternity brand, The Pod Collection. The navy jumper is designed with a relaxed and oversized fit and has side splits, a lower back hem, and wide ribbing on the cuffs, hem and collar. Like most pieces from The Pod Collection, it’s also designed to be flattering without a bump and the invisible side zips are handy if you are breastfeeding, €69; www.thepodcollection.com
BOWIE ART: An exhibition of selected works from Gifts to the Starman, a STEAM-inspired creative competition for children and young adults, is running at Blackrock Castle Observatory. Eight winning pieces feature alongside a handmade rice paper serigraph ‘Star’, that David Bowie made for a friend as a Christmas gift in 1975. The exhibition is at BCO until January 7, before moving to Dublin for the David Bowie Festival; www.bco.ie
