Coláiste Choilm claim crown in goal-fest

Irish Examiner - Sport - - CAMOGIE -

Coláiste Choilm upset champions Coachford in yesterday’s Cork Colleges Senior A Camogie final, when they turned a nine-point deficit into a victory of the same margin. Straight from the thrown in, Coachford’s Ciara Mccarthy found Marie O’reilly who calmly slotted to the net, rocking the Ballincollig girls. Hannah O’leary responded with a well-taken goal, but Coachford talisman Cliona Healy took over, notching 1-4 to no reply, and goals from Marie O’reilly and Ella Foley gave the champions a dominant lead. However their superiority was short-lived, as Ballincollig went goal crazy in the last 10 minutes of the half, with Meabh Murphy, O’leary, Dooley and a double from Orla Mccarthy leaving Coachford shell-shocked going into the break two points down. Coláiste Choilm picked up where they left off, with Kate Dooley grabbing her side’s sixth goal.

Healy kept Coachford’s heads up with a well-taken free, only for Coláiste Choilm’s Hannah O’leary and Meabh Murphy to kill the game with their second goals.
