Oran Kearney began his tenure as St Mirren boss with an encouraging 0-0 draw against 10man Celtic at the Simple Digital Arena.

Hoops midfielder Oiivier Ntcham was sent off in the 36th minute of the Ladbrokes Premiership encounter for picking up the second of two yellow cards.

It was a welcome point for the Paisley side, who had lost their previous three league games — a run which, in part, had led to the departure of manager Alan Stubbs.

Meanwhile Birmingham are still waiting for their first win of the Sky Bet Championship season after being held to a 1-1 home draw by West Brom. Goals from Julian Draxler, Edinson Cavani, Angel Di Maria and substitute Moussa Diaby earned the Ligue 1 champions a fifth successive win. Elsewhere, PSG manager Tuchel opted to rest Brazil striker Neymar ahead of next week’s Champions League game with Liverpool, while France World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe was unavailable due to suspension. His team showed they could cope without the high-profile pair as Draxler headed a firsthalf opener following Marco Verratti’s pass, before Cavani converted from the penalty spot after he was fouled by Loic Perrin.

Winger Di Maria put the result beyond doubt by finishing from a tight angle, and 19-year-old forward Diaby completed the scoring with his first professional goal late on. Elsewhere, Patrick Vieira enjoyed his first home victory as Nice manager after an 89thminute strike from Pierre Leesmelou secured a 2-1 win over Rennes.
