Stepping back from frontline action
Last year saw a number of players take a break from inter-county GAA.
The lists included — Ciaron O’hanlon, Paul Hughes, James Morgan, Oisín O’neill and Jamie Clarke (Armagh), Kieran and Shane Bennett (Waterford), Stephen Mcdonnell (Cork), Aaron Cunningham (Clare), James Breen, Podge Doran, Gary Moore and Andrew Kenny (Wexford), Graham Guilfoyle (Offaly) and Ollie Lyons and Shane Mcnamara (Kildare).
Already, several like Kildare trio Daniel Flynn, Ben Mccormack and Eoin Powderly (both work commitments) are set to do the same in 2019.
New manager Páraic Fanning recently confirmed the medical student has decided to step away from the panel for next season. out while Diarmuid Murtagh has to sit it out after picking up a nasty eye injury against Dublin in the counties’ Super 8 game back in August. Kieran Mcgeeney won’t have the trio due to other commitments. Hagan has cited work commitmentst while Johnston heads for Australia as part of his medical studies. Mcgoldrick and Mooney intend on travelling.
