Rockabill’s ex­pe­ri­ence pays div­i­dends

Rockabill Shell­fish is a fam­ily- run com­pany with more than 30 years ex­pe­ri­ence in the fish­ing in­dus­try, op­er­at­ing its own fleet of trawlers, re­frig­er­ated trucks and a num­ber of pro­cess­ing plants lo­cated in Ire­land and Bri­tain.

It can sup­ply as­sured qual­ity seafood prod­ucts, in­clud­ing both frozen and fresh scampi; live/frozen ra­zor clams; monk­fish, vel­vet crab, brown crab, cock­les and a num­ber of other seafood prod­ucts.

“We have in­vested heav­ily in our Bri­tish Re­tail Con­sor­tium ac­cred­ited pro­cess­ing plant in Bal­brig­gan, Co Dublin, hav­ing com­pleted a very large in­vest­ment in the fa­cil­ity — one of the largest sin­gle in­vest­ments in the fish­ing in­dus­try in Ire­land in 2014/2015.

“We have in­stalled a state-of-the-art trace­abil­ity sys­tem to en­sure the prod­ucts you pur­chase from us have been pro­cessed in our pris­tine, ul­tra mod­ern fac­tory by our highly trained staff while re­main­ing fully trace­able back to our ves­sels and the fish­ing ground where the prod­uct was caught.”

In ad­di­tion to the BRC cer­ti­fi­ca­tion, the com­pany’s pro­cess­ing fa­cil­ity has also been in­de­pen­dently au­dited un­der the Bord Ias­caigh Mhara Re­spon­si­bly Sourced Stan­dard and the Re­spon­si­ble Ir­ish Fish schemes.

“These schemes en­sure our fac­tory meets the strin­gent re­quire­ments of the re­spec­tive Stan­dards while en­sur­ing our trace­abil­ity sys­tem pro­vides as­sur­ance that the seafood prod­ucts we pro­duce are trace­able to ves­sels con­tribut­ing to the longterm sus­tain­abil­ity of fish stocks through their fish­ing prac­tices.”

Rockabill main­tain its own fleet of 14 mod­ern trawlers, all equipped with on­board re­frig­er­a­tion.

“Our own ves­sels fish for a num­ber of species rang­ing from day ves­sels that catch live ra­zor clams and live scal­lops to sta­teof-the-art fac­tory ves­sels catch­ing Dublin Bay prawns and freez­ing them on board.”
