1 Va­ri­ety Show

The Cork Artistes Va­ri­ety Show takes to the Every­man stage in Cork to­mor­row night with old-fash­ioned humour and mu­sic. Head­lin­ing the night are the Cork Tenors, Lor­raine Man­ley, co­me­dian Frank Twomey and the Donal Ring Céilí band. The show starts at 7.30pm and tick­ets cost €25.ev­ery­man­cork.com

2 Pop goes the Orches­tra

Eve­lyn Grant has cre­ated a new live mul­ti­me­dia con­cert for pri­mary and post pri­mary schools with the Cork Pops Orches­tra ‘A World of Rhythm’, which takes place in City Hall Cork on Tues­day, Wed­nes­day and Thurs­day and on Fri­day at Uni­ver­sity Con­cert Hall, Lim­er­ick. She is join­ing forces with award-win­ning pro­ducer and com­poser DJ Dashka, singer Phoebe Dip­ple and Chris Hur­ley from the Cork Film Cen­tre, to cre­ate a show to in­tro­duce a younger au­di­ence to the joy of a live mu­sic with the use of dig­i­tal tech­nol­ogy.

3 Floral Demo

Friends of the Down Syn­drome Cen­tre Cork are hold­ing a fundraiser on Thurs­day at the Tivoli Room in the Clay­ton Sil­ver­springs Ho­tel in Cork. The Christ­mas floral demon­stra­tion which will be pre­sented by DJ Mur­phy of Ban­don Gar­den Cen­tre. Monies raised will go to­wards its cen­tre at Forge Hill House to pro­vide sup­port to fam­i­lies and carers of chil­dren with Down Syn­drome. Tick­ets of €10 each are avail­able on 021 4915616.

4 Shoe­box Ap­peal

There is still time to take part in this year’s Team Hope Shoe­box Ap­peal.

Team Hope wants to de­liver 280,000 shoe­boxes this year which will be de­liv­ered di­rectly into the hands of a child in need. For most of these chil­dren, it is the only present they will re­ceive all year. All you have to do is find an empty shoe­box, wrap it in Christ­mas pa­per and fill it with gifts for a boy or girl aged be­tween 2 and 14, at­tach €4 and bring it to a lo­cal drop off point be­fore Fri­day. 5 Screen Magic

The coun­try’s largest film fes­ti­val kicks off on Fri­day and runs un­til Novem­ber 18. The 63rd Cork Film Fes­ti­val is a cel­e­bra­tion of award-win­ning films from the in­ter­na­tional film fes­ti­val cir­cuit, cinema clas­sics, Ir­ish fea­tures, doc­u­men­taries and shorts, and in­cludes pro­grammes for schools and fam­i­lies. cork­film­fest.org
