Teen ‘didn’t know drug was in pocket’

Irish Examiner - - News -

A teenager denied knowing there was cannabis in his jacket pocket but the prosecuting inspector said the youth was so intoxicated he would not have known if he had two turnips in his pockets. Inspector Gary McPolin made this comment before Judge Aingil Ní Chondúin at an in camera sitting of the juvenile court of Cork District Court. Garda Niall Mangan testified that he was suspicious of the 17-year-old on Main St in Carrigaline on January 5 so he carried out a search of the youth. Judge Ní Chondúin said: “I have a little doubt, I am obliged to dismiss. I am not happy dismissing it.”
