Apology summed up Hume’s grace

Irish Examiner - - Opinion -

Old Bawn Dublin 24

There’ll be people paying tribute to John Hume today who excoriated him when he began his talks with Gerry Adams out of which, ultimately, came the whole peace process.

I was in such company with John in Leinster House when he, understandably, got very annoyed. The following day he rang me at my home in Cork to apologise for his annoyance. Sums up the man.
