Enet hires le­gal vet­eran

TELE­COMS firm Enet, which this week split with SSE over the Gov­ern­ment’s sep­a­rate Na­tional Broad­band Plan, has ap­pointed Claire Mur­phy as group gen­eral coun­sel and com­pany sec­re­tary.

Ms Mur­phy, pic­tured, will have re­spon­si­bil­ity for all le­gal work-streams for the group, as well as cor­po­rate gov­er­nance mat­ters.

In ad­di­tion, she as­sumes the ti­tle of head of shared ser­vices, where she will have re­spon­si­bil­ity for hu­man re­sources, busi­ness trans­for­ma­tion ini­tia­tives, and reg­u­la­tory mat­ters.

Ms Mur­phy brings over 13 years of ex­pe­ri­ence in the le­gal pro­fes­sion to the role, hav­ing worked both in in­dus­try, in the util­ity and card pay­ments sec­tor, and in pri­vate prac­tice in Ir­ish law firms.

“Claire’s ex­per­tise and dy­namism is a great fit for the se­nior lead­er­ship team at Enet,” said Enet CEO Bart­ley McElroy.

“Her strate­gic and le­gal ex­pe­ri­ence cou­pled with her abil­ity to man­age stake­hold­ers and change aligns with Enet’s de­vel­op­ment plans.”

A so­lic­i­tor, Ms Mur­phy stud­ied busi­ness and law and has a mas­ters in com­mer­cial law from UCD. Ms Mur­phy said she was “ex­cited” about join­ing the com­pany.
