ESB’s Mullally takes charge of joint venture Siro in switch

Irish Independent - Business Week - - IN PERSON - Adrian Weckler

SIRO, the telecoms firm which is a joint venture between the ESB and Vodafone, is to change its chief executive.

Outgoing boss Sean Atkinson will return to the ESB to lead ESB International, while the telco’s chief financial officer, John Keadey, assumes the top job at Siro.

The switch was planned under contractual arrangement between the ESB and Vodafone, whereby one person from each entity would assume the CEO role and CFO role, changing after four years.

Siro’s new CFO will be Michelle Mullally, currently the ESB’s group internal auditor.

The change in leadership is unconnected to the government’s National Broadband Plan, which Siro pulled out of a year ago.

According to the company, Siro is shortly set to ‘pass’ 200,000 homes and businesses in large regional towns and cities for fibre broadband, with over 30,000 connected to the service.
